National Coffee Month: Celebrate Coffee From Farm to Cup
August is National Coffee Month, making it the perfect time to slow down, savor your favorite cup, and appreciate everything that goes into getting coffee from the farm to your mug.
For us at Blue House Coffee Roasters, coffee is more than a morning ritual. It is a journey that begins with the people who grow it, continues through harvesting and processing, and ends with carefully roasting the beans right here in Arizona.
From the Farm to Your Cup
Every great cup of coffee starts with a great coffee cherry.
Our connection to coffee begins in Costa Rica, where our family-owned coffee farm grows and harvests coffee. From the elevation and climate to the coffee varietals and processing methods, every part of the growing process can influence the final flavor in your cup.
Once coffee cherries are harvested, the beans go through processing and drying before becoming the green coffee beans that roasters use. From there, the roasting process transforms those green beans into the aromatic, flavorful coffee we know and love.
At Blue House, we roast our coffee in downtown Phoenix, bringing together our connection to the farm with our passion for freshly roasted coffee.
Why Does the Farm Matter?
Coffee is an agricultural product, which means where and how it is grown matters.
Things like elevation, soil, rainfall, climate, coffee varietal, and processing method can all affect the characteristics of a coffee. That’s part of what makes exploring different coffees so fun. Two coffees can taste completely different depending on where they were grown and how they were processed.
Our connection to Costa Rica gives us the opportunity to experience that process firsthand and share more of the coffee journey with our customers.
How to Celebrate National Coffee Month
Looking for an excuse to make August a little more caffeinated? Here are a few of our favorite ways to celebrate:
Try a new coffee.
Choose a coffee from an origin or roast profile you haven’t tried before. You might discover a new favorite.
Change up your brewing method.
Try your usual coffee as a pour-over, French press, cold brew, or another brewing method. You may be surprised by how much the flavor changes.
Make your coffee at home feel like a coffee shop.
Add one of your favorite Blue House homemade syrups, try an iced latte, or experiment with a new coffee recipe.
Support your local coffee community.
Visit a local coffee shop, stop by a farmers market, or seek out a local roaster. Every purchase helps support the people and businesses that make your local coffee scene possible.
Learn where your coffee comes from.
Take a closer look at the coffee you’re drinking. Where was it grown? How was it processed? Who roasted it? There’s a whole story behind every bag.
