FAQs

What are the benefits of signing up for a subscription?

Oh wow, there are so many! First and foremost, you save on your coffee (about 30-50% off our regular retail price) and you receive free shipping - nationwide. But it’s so much more than a simple coffee subscription. It’s also a membership and a community.

Subscribers get first - and sometimes exclusive - access to our Roaster’s Choice coffee beans. Think experimental roasts, rare finds, and special collaborations. We give our subscribers the option to customize their subscription, meaning that we meticulously curate coffee beans just for you, to match your favorite flavors and brew methods. Subscribers also always get early access when we offer virtual and in-person coffee education events, activities, and resources.

How do I manage my coffee subscription?

Once you’ve subscribed, you can login to your account to update your coffee preferences, grind choices, manage your subscription details, and pause or skip your subscription.

We rotate our coffees and get new origins constantly, so you can view and select which beans you would like to receive for the upcoming month. If you do not update your preferences, we will send you coffee beans that most closely resemble the first selections that you made, and match the flavor profiles that you picked.

How do I customize my coffee subscription?

Sign up or login to your subscription profile and fill out our flavor profile questionnaire. We show you our current assortment of single-origin beans to select from, but the flavor profile helps us better pinpoint and match your palate.

Do you love bright, citrusy coffee? Or do you dig a rich and chocolatey vibe? Get the flavors you love, and skip the ones you don’t - AND pick your favorite brew method. We can grind your coffee to the perfect consistency for you, whether you have an at-home espresso machine, a French Press, or you like a good old-fashioned cuppa drip coffee.

Do you like everything and you’re ready to try any flavors? Select our Roaster’s Choice option - we’ll send you something different every month!

Have a specific request, or want to switch the frequency of your deliveries, or from coffee beans in the winter to cold brew in the summer? Our team will make it happen! Contact subscriptions@bluehousecoffee.com

When will my order ship?

Our shipping and delivery schedule is oriented around our roasting schedule so that you receive the freshest possible coffee beans. We roast our coffee to order in small batches every Thursday. Orders are then shipped on Saturdays and we deliver local Phoenix orders on Sundays.

Our coffee subscription members receive their monthly coffee beans at the beginning of each month. Our small in-house team is unable to customize subscription delivery dates at this time, but if you will be out of town or need to skip a month, please contact our team at subscriptions@bluehousecoffee.com

Where do you deliver? Do you ship coffee outside of Arizona?

We offer complimentary delivery of our coffee and cold brew within a 20-mile radius of our coffee lab in Downtown Phoenix - to Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa, Chandler, and Gilbert.

Our coffee beans can be shipped anywhere in the US. We ship in compostable bags and support the USPS. Shipping is $8 flat rate - or free when you sign up for our coffee subscription!

We are unable to ship our bottled cold brew - it’s available for local Phoenix delivery only.

Do you ship your coffee whole bean?

Yes, unless you specify otherwise! For optimum freshness, we ship our beans whole. However, we know that not everyone has access to a great coffee grinder, so we do also offer ground-to-order coffee. You can select your coarseness - from incredibly fine Turkish Coffee or espresso grinds, to medium and coarse grinds for your Chemex or French Press.

Always store your coffee in a cool, dark, dry place. Ground coffee will lose its freshness more quickly than whole beans, so we do recommend transferring and storing in an air-tight container. We like Fellow, Airscape, or Coffeevac

Is your coffee organic?

Most of them are! We strive to source organic beans whenever possible. We’re committed to advancing sustainable growing practices and a large part of that includes partnering with small farms. We work with a family-operated importer to source our Fair-Trade coffees, which make up about half of our portfolio. We buy the rest of our beans Direct Trade, meaning that we build partnerships and work directly with farmers - discussing crops, visiting their farms, collaborating on projects, and purchasing directly from them.

All of our coffee beans are grade A, and most have Fairtrade Organic or Certified Rainforest Alliance certifications. Our decaf coffee beans are always organic. They are water-processed or mountain spring processed, and free of chemicals.

I ordered something and I don’t like it, what do I do?

Oh no! We always want you to love your coffee. If you don’t like a particular coffee or something tastes a little off, please let us know. Email our team at hello@bluehousecoffee.com and we’ll take care of it!

What are your sustainability practices?

Glad you asked, because we’re really really into offsetting our impact. Our goal is to become a carbon neutral company by 2022. We’re working towards this by powering our roasting facility with solar power, utilizing an electric vehicle for our deliveries and farmers market setups, reducing waste with compostable coffee bean packaging and a milk-man style cold brew bottle delivery & exchange, and planting trees through our partners Trees Matter Arizona and TerraPass. We also fertilize the garden plot at our roasting facility with spent coffee grounds, and additional coffee ground compost is donated to the Garfield Community Garden in our neighborhood.

In the broader sense, we’re passionate about working with organic coffee growers and partnering with small farms owned by local growers, because we believe biodiversity, healthy soils, and prosperous communities are key in combating global climate change.
