National Barista Day Spotlight: Meet Rowdy, Our Market Manager
National Barista Day is about more than great coffee. It is about the people who show up before sunrise, lead with intention, and constantly look for ways to make the business stronger.
Today we are celebrating Rowdy, our Market Manager and Economist at Blue House Coffee Roasters.
A Key Part of Blue House for the Past Few Years
Rowdy has been part of Blue House Coffee for the past several years, growing right alongside our farmers market presence. What started as a role under the tent evolved into leadership at the farmers markets, where he now oversees operations, supports staff, and helps keep everything running smoothly week after week.
When you visit our booth, you might see him helping customers, organizing the setup, or making sure the team has what they need for a busy morning. What you might not see is the bigger picture thinking happening behind the scenes.
An Economics Major with a Strategic Mindset
Rowdy is an economics major preparing to graduate from the W.P. Carey School of Business. That background has shaped the way he approaches his role at Blue House.
Over the past few years, he has consistently looked at market data to help strengthen the business. His attention to trends, customer behavior, and product demand helps us make smarter decisions at the markets.
He does not just focus on serving great coffee. He focuses on understanding how the operation works and where it can improve.
He looks at things such as:
Which coffees sell best at different markets
How inventory should be planned for demand shocks
How to keep operations efficient during early morning setups
How pricing and product mix influence sales
That combination of hospitality and economic thinking has made a real impact on Blue House Coffee Roasters.
More Than a Barista
A barista helps create the experience. A leader helps guide the direction. Rowdy does both. He is a firm believer in quality over quantity, and gathers feedback from vendors, customers, and his team on how the company can improve our services and processes. Whenever he trains anyone new on the team, he always tells them to “be a good neighbor” and to “be a giver”.
From supporting the team at the markets to thinking about how we can improve week after week, he brings consistency, organization, and a thoughtful approach to everything he does.
His growth over the past few years reflects what National Barista Day is really about. Skill. Dedication. Leadership. Continuous improvement.
If you see Rowdy at the market, wish him a Happy National Barista Day and grab a cup of freshly roasted coffee while you are there.
Great coffee starts with great people in great places.
